I finally got around to mowing the lawn. I cant remember the last time I did it. It hasnt been that a cold a winter this year but the lawn still didnt grow that much, but was starting to look a little shaggy.
The rock walls got attacked with the weed eater and I have just a few spots to hand...
Yep, I got 2 1/2 x750ml jars of honey from it. There is still the last little bit I'm trying to squeeze out of the wax, trying to get every last drop.
I think thats just under 3kg.
I washed the cappings from the other frames and added some yeast to it, just bog standard baking yeast cos I dont...

I'll take one tomorrow in day light. My camara doesnt seem to like night time pics, they never seem to come out right and no, I am not going out to buy a fancy camera.
What I will do with the wax is slightly melt it again and apply it to the plastic SC frames I have...or rather the strips that...
It looks like the bees have decided that its already spring. I spotted the first drone already.
I kept a number of frames of honey in the store room just in case I needed to return them. This week, I decided that they didnt need them and did the crush and strain method to extract the honey...
smacking lips.....nah, I dont think they taste anything like carrots though.
Next time someone comes over for dinner, I'll make sure we have some and ask the how they would describe them.
I actually planted flowers for a change. Pansies and Alyssum.
To me , they taste earthy, but sweet and have a soft texture. I love them roasted, steamed, in mash with potatoes and pumpkin, they are great in casseroles, go well with melted butter, meat gravey......Mmmmm
Well! the pics took a life of their own and decided to turn up everywhere.

Its been raining here for days, I'm bored.
I have spent alot of time running out with the measuring tape to check things out, then run inside again to work on my plan for the greenhouse. I'm not calling it a glasshouse anymore cos it doesnt have any.
I think I have it worked out so it will fit...
Most of the grass is couch with some white clover. I find it regrows quite quickly even when scraped.

For the last 3 days, I have been putting the pavers in place around the lawn to act as a mowing strip and trying to level the ground. So far,one whole side has the pavers in place....then I realised that the timber edging didnt extend right to the end, so I had to stop and think about what i was...
Yep, its a bought lemon with a noticable graft.
I decided to try to espalier it just so I wouldnt have to reach through the thorny bits to get to the fruit. They are lovely and juicy.
Jack doesnt bark much so I pay attention when he does. and he doesnt bark or go at cats or birds- thats just...
Me too!
I must be on a bit of a roll this week. Today, I cut down my persimmon tree cos the branch that broke under the weight of the fruit had black mold going down past the break point. Big sigh. The cuts all got painted with some leftover house paint to make sure they didnt get reinfected...
