I may have asked this before, I'm not entirely sure. Anyways, last year, we canned up two 13g garbage bags full of sweet banana peppers. I have two dozen sweet banana pepper seedlings and I'm wondering how much this should produce. I'd really like to be able to produce the same amount as we...
Hmm. I've been working with ideas. Mostly, a strip of paper with the variety stuffed into a 2x3" zippy bag works beautifully. Granted, I haven't tested it for long or in extreme conditions.
Most of my seeds were started in the coffee filters/paper towels, so they were really disturbed, lol. Most made it, though my tomatoes didn't seem to appreciate it. My romas that I planted today went straight to soil, instead of sprouting them first. Maybe I will try some direct sowing later, or...
Aren't they perfect?! I was going to buy another seed tray or two, but they're $4 a piece, and well, I'm cheap. The egg cartons are too perfect and free. :) To be honest though, I used styrofoam cartons. I'll just pop the seedlings out, rinse the cartons and put them away for next year.
Oh jeez. I was scanning for things to plant in and spotted my saved egg cartons. I was going to give them to a local farmer, who I sometimes buy eggs from, but hey, they looked like perfect seed starters! So, I now have 2 dozen roma tomatoes in egg cartons, a dozen Cali. wonder bell peppers, a...
So, I have a ton of excess seeds, and some that I may never get to plant, so I'm hoping to trade for something that I may use. Some of my excess seeds are from the seed trains, some from trades, etc. If I'm stepping on toes, please let me know that I got a particular seed from you and you'd like...
So, this will be my first garden. We finally have the space picked out, but the bf wants to bring up a rototiller to get it ready for me, and wants to wait for spring. I, on the other hand, am willing to dig it all up by hand and get started NOW! Lol. Anyways, I started a lot of seeds in coffee...
I'll take the rhubarb seed.
I had thought that I was done with my seeds. I even went and purchased the last few seeds on my list that I didn't already have. Now I see rhubarb, and can't resist. :/
Anyways, I'll offer:
Common Milkweed
X-mas lights ornamental peppers
Bell Peppers (California...
Oh, lol! I'm sorry! I was worried that since my one previous offer slowed the train that I was being encouraged to not post again, lol. I'll take the offer posted. I was in fact interested in another from the list. :)
I'll offer milkweed, lol. If you want another from the list, let me know...
I'm envious! I did get some seeds, but they're more of a shoots 'n' giggles kind of thing. I'm just going to plant them and hope to goodness that the hoodlem neighbor kids don't tear into them.
Thank you. I didn't want to plant them and waste the soil (lol, I'm a cheapy and had to BUY soil) if they were junk. Good thing they were just the popcorn sprouts. Hopefully the rest don't get moldy. :/
I sprouted some popping corn as an experiment on the fridge. 4 of 5 sprouted, but three are moldy. Can I salvage them, or should I just toss the moldy ones? I didn't want to put them into soil without knowing.
I agree, it sounds like the x-mas lights. They were actually the very first ornamental pepper that we got, and what started it all for my mother and I, lol. I guess I'll switch to oregano. I need that for my homemade sauces this season. :)
Personally, I've scoped out several birch trees. I'm hoping to get out there and get some birch sap tapped this year. I'm debating on making my own or rigging my own.
Do you know which type of ornamental pepper? I'm trying to add to my collection. :)
ETA: I'll take it. If it's one I already have, I'll just switch my choice. My offer:
Ornamental Peppers:
X-mas Lights
Chilly Chili
Bell Peppers:
California
Carnival mix hybrids
Red Candy
Hot banana/wax...
Honestly, I've been wondering about potatoes. I really want to try making a hanging basket type thing and trying them out. My idea would be to have rings (made of sturdy wire, wood or maybe even rings cut from a 5g bucket), then sew a cloth sock and sew the rings in 12 inch increments. Sew/tie...
