Buried between weeds and a huge sage patch, I found a small, but sprawling plant. It's quite fragrant--- but not one I planted last year-- perhaps from 2 years ago... I know it doesn't look like chervil-- so the only other possibilities (that I can't identify, at least) are either summer...
Thread jacking here-- sorry!
I LOVE jasmine tea, but when I tried to get plants or seeds-- I read nothing but "make sure you're getting "real" jasmine plants, etc-- and never could figure out what it is I really need for true jasmine tea... Any suggestions? Or sources?
Sounds wonderful!!! I had some apple mint that a friend sent me a few years ago, that never came back, and couldn't find a bit of mint anywhere for 2 years.
Finally, this year, I came across some more in plant-form at a green house, as well as an "Indian Mint", that looks and smells...
Sounds yummy!!! No fancy oils in my neck of the woods ( and no thyme, now that you mention it--- I'd better check out my seeds and see what I can find!).
Do you buy your oils locally, or order online? If you have an online source-- please share too! (I'm not asking much, am I... LOL)
Can comfrey be planted by seed, or does it need a "transplant"? I know it's a favorite of ducks, and great to compost with- and we've got lots of space for planting, so I've been thinking of growing a bunch of it-- just never looked into how to grow it :)
Kind of thread hijacking here-- but, Wifezilla-- I've never made my own salad dressing-- so can you please share some ideas?
I filled a quart jar of blossoms today- and topped it off with vinegar---- already a GORGEOUS lavender color!!! I really want to make something awesome out of it when...
Get them started now-- then transplant when they seem strong, and a few inches high-- buried deep in a trench, as mentioned before. Do some googling on how to grow them, etc.
I have an established patch here- was here when we bought our place 3 years ago, but did start some from seed last...
Sadly, they are all looking horrible-- worse than day 1..
Does anyone know if they look worse before they get better? I'm wondering if I should just pull them all and try to start a few new plants (since we can plant as late as July 4 or so and still get a full season)... They are...
Thanks folks. 2 days later, they're not looking one bit better. Our growing season is SHORT, and all of these are heirloom varieties-- unheard of in these parts!!! I'm thinking I'm going to need to find a greenhouse and buy plants next week ( I'm working the next 6 days straight)... and...
Dear hubby thought he was doing me a favor by moving my 4 week old seedlings outside for some sun and fresh air yesterday. I work evenings, so he's up hours before me, and before I realized it----- about 35 each of my pepper and tomato seedlings, and some herbs, were pretty windburned. The...
My lettuce grows like crazy. I am, however, in a cooler zone than you are. How hot is it where you're planting it just now? It needs warmth to sprout, but not too much- it prefers cooler soil and air temps. Since you didn't mention temps- this could be a problem, perhaps?
Will do. They're somewhat flatted due to the snow. If they survive well, I may move some to a new raised bed, and plan to mulch around them for some support in the fall.
I'm not sure what kind of sage it is at all. I planted it in the ground last year, after having the seeds a few years. I don't recall it being any "special" sage---I'd never grown it and wanted something basic.
Of course... I never really understood that it was perennial here ( I had been...
I wasn't sure if it would last through our zone 4 winter or not-
I've got "old" plants in the garden, and don't want to do the wrong thing, in case they did last. Our snow has just melted off them.
Do I pull the plants? Cut them back? Or let them be? They are all flattened to the ground...
I'll take the Hollyhocks, please, and offer:
