I found out that I could try by putting some in a wet paper towel in a ziploc and let them sit in the sun for about five days. Do you think that might work? And thank you for your answer!
I was wondering if you absolutely have to let seeds dry before you plant them? My dad bought some really sweet cherry tomatoes at the store and right now I'm planting. I was wondering if I could plant a seed directly from the tomato or if they have to dry first?
Everyone, thank you SO MUCH for your replies! It's really nice seeing that TheEasyGarden is just as helpful as BackYardChickens! Since I planted the seeds yesterday, I'm going to pull out some of them today. Out of the 15, how many do you think I should keep? I have a family of three, along with...
I was wondering if I could use the fertilizer that I'm using on my squash and tomatoes on my flowers (Morning Glories & Bachelor Buttons)? I'm going to be starting them from a seed. I'm not sure what kind of fertilizer it is, I just found it in one of our big pots that my dad used for past...
Does that same site that you showed me for the tomatoes have one for Morning Glories and Bachelor Buttons too? I tried looking but couldn't find a list of plants.
I can't wait till it gets warmer. One of my chickens is getting over a cold. And I want my plants to grow fast XD!
I have Australorps, Jersey Giants, Cochins, Plymouth Rocks, Easter Eggers, Leghorns, Old English Game bantams, and D'Uccles.
It's been about 39 here at night. It doesn't seem as cold tonight. During the day it's been around the 60's.
LOL! I'd do the same thing!
Some plants that we have around here that my chickens don't like are roses, daisies, and honeysuckle. At least, my chickens don't like the daisies...
Hattie, thank you so much for answering this question too! Blue is my favorite color, so I've picked out blue flowers to grow this year. Would the roots have enough room in big pots?
My bad, thanks Hattie! I'm from California, and it says March - June? Not too sure when it ends, but I know for sure it starts in March. So right now is planting time for me.
Thank you so much for your welcome and answers journey11! I decided to check this place out after being a member of BackYardChickens.
And the tomatoes I have are called globe tomatoes, or something.
Today I soaked the seeds in water and I plan on plating them tomorrow in several pots. I will be keeping them indoors for about four weeks to make sure winter and the last frost is over. When the plants get bigger I will be transporting them into bigger pots, and then into the ground. Could one...
I planted about 20 tomato seeds today inside several pots. I also planted about 15 yellow squash seeds in pots too. I'm going to grow them inside the house for a bit until the last frost is over and spring starts. I'm keeping them in the light during the day. I plan on transplanting them into...
