I've had sauerkraut get a little "fuzzy" on top before and to be truthful, I just took that layer off and the rest was OK!
Is it moldy throughout or just on top? I think it can depend on what you have laying on top of it...maybe???

Kathy
A mix of red and green leaf lettuces from the garden, a sprinkling of chopped cashews, craisins and gorgonzola and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Man was it a good salad!
Thanks everyone!
I'll double check on that cilantro again today. :) The "broader" cilantro looking leaves are more at the base of the plant, it is starting to get tall and send up these "tips" where the coriander seeds will form (I think!). Like I said, I'll look again.
The basil plant is...
This started because I thought my peas were just so pretty that I had to get the camera out. :D
They took forever to grow this year but have really taken off in the last week or so. And I had forgotten that some of the pods were going to be purple/blue. :P
Blue Podded Heirloom Garden Pea...
Tomato hornworm I think?
This will be the first summer we've had chickens and they will be in for a treat when I see these on my tomatoes!
I believe there is a parasitic wasp that lays it's eggs on the hornworm too. You will find them with the egg cases "stuck" to their back.
Mmmmmm...made a BIG spinach salad with hot bacon dressing for supper. 15 y.o. DS wasn't sure he would like it so I made him a "side" salad. He literally wiped the bowl clean with his fingers. :)
Absolutely!
My avatar is a monarch chrysalis that I "grew" last summer. I "grew" some swallowtails too. Along with the garden and the chickens, butterfly raising is addicting!
I planted a big butterfly garden last year with host and nectar plants. Have a special planting bed outside of our...
For those wondering about planting your own beds...do it! I'm no expert but I did our asparagus bed last year...
I found a link here too:
The hardest part was digging the bed deep. At least 12 inches, if not a bit deeper.
Make sure you get male plants/crowns. I did a bed 3 feet x 6 feet...
Thanks. :)
Hattie, the greens came up really quickly. Keeping my fingers crossed. It's supposed to get up in the 80's around here this weekend. That's a bit too warm for April. I want my spring!
Oh they sound yummy!
I planted the asparagus bed last year and we're just starting to get a few spears.
I've been sauteing it lightly in a little olive oil until it's as "crisp/tender" as you like. Grate a little fresh parmesan cheese over the top. Mmmmmm.

I have seedlings started this year for Ma-Zu Purple Chinese Eggplant:
We'll see how they do! I was never an eggplant "eater" until we got some of the long, slender purple ones in our CSA shares last summer. Never really cared for the fried eggplant type dish and just didn't know what else to...
Thanks everyone!
The stir fry greens are the Siamese Dragon Stir-Fry Mix from Baker Creek:
I can't wait to try them! We ate some of the asparagus last night. Yummy and much milder in flavor than any I've had from the store.
Hi folks!
I love seeing pictures of everyone else's garden and it was so nice out today I thought I would take a few pictures of what is coming up in mine. :D
Anybody want to help me plant some onions? Hehe.
Asparagus...planting the asparagus bed was last years big project.
Peas...
