Is me planting them right now (from seed) too late in the season?
Will being in afternoon sun be alright or do they need more? We face the evening sun...westerly?
Shame on me...I went to get potting soil for my turnips and wound up looking at the clearance rack. I figure since it's already dying, I can't blame myself for it dying on me.
BUT, there was no tag on this pretty thing. It was $0.50 cents...dried out and not in a pot.
Any ideas?

I have decided to try once more..before it's too late to grow something that I can eat.
The tomato plants looked beautiful, just didn't get any fruit even though there were blooms galore.
I've decided turnips (which taste SO good) might be a good last ditch effort. I've read that I need to...
I have the most gorgeous tomato plant. Issue is, I think there may be TOO many leaves on it.
There has been a tomato on the vine growing for quite awhile...it hasn't gotten any bigger or any redder. I have oodles of blooms, but no new tomato growth.
Is there something I should be doing? I'm...
There was quite a bit of "mold" and even a mushroom growing down below the strawberry plant, so I'm glad I went through and completely cleaned out the pot. Still confused as to how the worm lived through the packaging procedure of the compost...but works for me!
Some of my tomato plants have...
I changed out the soil to try and get rid of whatever else was in there. Found out that there's a worm in the soil! (how's that happen???)
Anyway, will the cinnamon hurt the worm?
OK. I've had some success with my strawberry plant. I've got two questions.
1. This plant is an indoor/outdoor plant. It goes outside when it's warm but comes in at night. On one of these ventures, gnats have decided to take up residence in the soil.
Why are they in the soil? How do I get...
Whelp...that didn't work out well. I transplanted them into their own pots, only to see that they died. I have no idea why. Every single one I transplanted into a pot died, yet the ones that I planted into an egg tray survived. The ones that I've left inside of the ice cube tray made it too...
Oh really? I have to harden them?
What does that mean? How do I do it? WHY must I do it?
Remember, they'll probably be coming inside each night and on days that the weather is bad.
At the moment, the plan is to move them outside once they are about 6" and have at least 2 sets of leaves. During cold days, the plant will stay indoors, but on nice sunny ones, it will be outside on a west-facing patio. Unfortunately, it's not full sun thanks to the balcony above us, but...
First post over here! :D I'm a long-time member of backyardchickens.com, but thought I'd branch over here since I have little to no knowledge of gardening.
I'm so happy with myself. I got seeds approximately 6 days ago for tomatoes. Somehow overnight they busted through and are approximately...
