almost got the garden done i was working on clearing of weeds. it isn't preppped for planting but just having it cleared of weeds will help the planting go faster when i get back to it.
i saw one or two Eastern Milk Snakes today as i was bringing in the bucket of tools, etc. it was a fairly large one (over 3ft long) and beautiful. :)

no rain yesterday evening, forecast is for heavy rains this evening. two cold evenings this week in forecast for low 40sF but not frost warnings so it's ok.

i've only made Concord Grape jam and the recipe needs no additional pectin because they suggest picking the grapes and including some that are not fully ripe. those green grapes have plenty of pectin.
i doubt that all varieties of grapes have the same thing going for them, but perhaps looking...
peas have poked above the ground. not as much rains as i was hoping for which means i did get the hose out and gave that garden enough moisture to keep their journey going...

planted four small rows of beans yesterday. weather forecast for the next week looks ok so i'm taking a chance. mostly Purple Dove beans with a few of the outcrosses mixed in to provide some variety and chances of new mayhem. :)

it is possible but it will be a major challenge with the lack of water (or it being very expensive...).
i suggest looking into permaculture for arid regions. you'll likely need to start some shade trees that can tolerate that heat or put in some partial...
i have an extra flat pillow i can use, but it is normal for me to end up with blankets and pillows piled on top of my head and upper body with everything else sticking out - my feet do not want to ever be tucked in - they're my radiators... :)
some friends had a big cat that was very friendly, he loved any kind of attention. if you were laying down he'd come and stand on your chest and look down at you. with how big he was those feet really drilled in when he was standing there. they said he usually weighed between 25-30lbs.
