I started gardening about 7 years ago. We moved back to Las Vegas, NV March of 2023. We are currently on an acre while we look for a 10+ acre lot on which to build our dream home. I love connecting with other gardeners, local and not. I'm hoping to find more people gardening in my desert conditions, because I love the creativity that goes into creating the conditions to be able to harvest food through the hot summers, but I absolutely have been inspired by people in completely opposite zones and climates. My goal is to grow 90% of our produce.

welcome to TEG from mid-Michigan. :)

it is possible but it will be a major challenge with the lack of water (or it being very expensive...).

i suggest looking into permaculture for arid regions. you'll likely need to start some shade trees that can tolerate that heat or put in some partial shade cover of some kind. wind blocks...

the snakes, scorpions and spiders can be interesting. :) be careful to know what you might be up against with them if you are from a different region.

winter cold can happen - upland air without moisture or clouds can go from the one extreme to the other.

I had a friend in Northern CA who found scorpions in her house! She woke up with one on her chest once and another time found one in her shoe!
