DH and I keep looking at these type of designs for diy greenhouses, but have decided that they would not work for us. At least twice every winter we get several feet of snow in a 24 hr. period. Also all year long we are subject to high winds. We live in a valley and winds whip through here like...
I still can't plant yet. Most years we get snow and frosts until after mother's day. But I'm getting everything planned out. DH just replaced french doors at DMIL's house and is going to use the doors to make me cold frames!!!:weee

DH and I are working with DMIL on planning/landscaping her yards. She has two huge oak trees in back, so the soil around them is very acidic. Any suggestions of where I can find lists of plants that do well in acidic soil. DMIL will be watering and not much else, so I need to find plants that...
Our neighbor gave us 65 pines/ junipers last weekend! They are all in pots, in various stages of growth/death. The neighbors are occasional weekend people so do not get up often enough to water and/ or plant.
Me and DGD, are watering/ feeding and catagorizing everything. I took pictures of when...
Unfortunately, I can't do any planting right now as puppies have taken over my garden. We have one left to find a home for and the two we are keeping. Until DH fixes the small openings in the pen or builds a run, they stay in my garden during the day and my laundry room at night.
We go on...
I found aless messy way to seed pomegranates.
Cut off the crown, remove some of the white pith. Score into 1/4's,soak in large bowl of cool water for 5min.
Hold fruit underwater, break each scored section apart, separating the seeds from skin and membranes. Dry seeds on paper towels.
I love...
beavis- HMMMM, I haven't thought to try that combo!
allabout- Well, you know for sure WE will be warm this winter!! We got 4" of snow last night, and it is still snowing! It snowed over a 1/4" while DH was TRYING to get out of the driveway to go to work, NO LUCK! Snow day!! Schools are on a...
Yes, I have room in a fridge. DH got them in Bakersfield, they just say ' yellow daffodills' on the label. If Iput them in sawdust, where do I keep them? The fridge or storage?
Monica
DH bought me 100 daffodill bulbs the middle of Nov. The day our daughter and grandchildren came. We have not been around the grandkids much, one we have only seen once for 1 hr. and she is 3yrs. old! Our daughter was getting ready to go back to Afghanistan for 6 more months. We spent the time...
Mid Dec. will mark three yrs. here. I thought my garden was a priority:lau I thought that it would get done one of the first things:lau DH said he needed a tractor first, then it kept getting put at the bottom of the list. I finally convinced him that it would save on the grocery bill.
He also...
DH decided that for the other gardens he will use 8' peeler poles instead of the stakes so it will be sturdier and look better, otherwise we like how it turned out.
