    An Onion Question

I planted red onion sets about 4 months ago. I harvested today and they were all really small, the largest was only about 3" in diameter. Some plants didn't produce a bulb at all, just roots. I planted them about 8" apart and 1' rows.

    Post Your Garden Failures Here!

My second attempt at gardening, the first with a raised garden. My basic plan worked well. The screen wire kept out most of the weeds and bugs. However, I made the following mistakes. Overly ambitious. Planted way to much for the space I have. Didn't thin near enough. Didn't research just how...

Training cats to speak in English

My cat has just given up on trying to teach us to speak. She just points and complains; "Meooow! Hey! Look! My food bowl is almost empty!" "Meoow! See here? I'm almost out of water." "Of course I did that on the floor. My litter box needs changing.

How to kill lawn earth worms

Yep, one of the great feelgood movies of all time. Now, back to the castings problem. OldGal and I were discussing it this morning, and came up with a couple of ideas; 1. Castings on the surface are not normal behavior for earthworms. Are you sure they are the problem? Could it be something...

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK OR THE WEATHER AND YOU

Thank you for proving my point. In the USA we have the right to protest. What happens to that right when the government can blame problems on "the weather"?

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK OR THE WEATHER AND YOU

Today? Yes, I agree. What about tomorrow, or ten years from now. How about 20 or 30 years? During WWII we bombed Germany from 25-30,000' and were lucky to hit the town that we meant to. Today, a Cruise Missile fired from 1000 miles away has an 85% probability of hitting the exact target it's...

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK OR THE WEATHER AND YOU

I'm not as worried about the tax dollars being spent as I am about the government controlling the weather. Think about it. A protest "they" don't like? Torrential rains and high winds will take care of that. The potential is really scary. :barnie

    Regional Dialects

When I first came to Texas I had to learn a whole new language. Some examples are: Here in Texas we mash buttons and smoosh bugs. There's a new time. Fixin' to. That's the time between when we decide to do something and when we actually start doing it. Jansen - He used to be our President...
