i don't like change... i also don't like it when things change that i don't know the facts and details.
we had to have the hot water heater replaced and after that the water coming out of the sinks was tepid to even warm. i thought it was something going on with the change of the hot water...
nothing wrong with planting them any time in September IMO, but we're further north so perhaps give yourself a few more weeks of healing and then get it done... carefully... :) mid-September on. early October? i hardly ever do things when i'm supposed to...
very much dependent upon variety but also remember that in the natural environment where they developed they were not lifted and replanted and i've grown garlic here where i've not lifted it and just left it to grow as a big clump.
so the whole lifting and dividing and replanting is purely for...

i tried a few and found most of them were too long of a season for us or close enough to not be reliable.

i was outside enough to enjoy the day and to get things done until i was tired enough to stop. that's as good...
top part of the north garden is done at last. finished up that and got it scraped and then went and picked some peppers for making stuffed peppers this afternoon and a few tomatoes for yum. there's starting to be enough tomatoes to do some canning. also a lot of beans ready to pick too.
they are certainly very interesting creatures and also a good warning about how to do things wrong or right in terms of observing what is happening in the world around you.
