Hummers and the gladiolus
I think the hot wire is to blame. Found a little grey bird in a planter. Right above, fence and wire were close enough together the bird got zapped. Started spray painting the yellow insulators black, in hopes of not attracting the hummers near them...
Since my bday is next week, and the local nursery posted a sale, we went to get plants! 🫣
Mix, mixy, mix!
Potted up until autumn, when I dig everything up to add more soil.
Got two more of the cute candy lilies.
Then a little Baptisia. I have a huge one at the old house. Need to dig it up...
Out of nearly 200 seeds....
50 are sprouting, are seedlings.
Horrible success rate...
Moved all of the growing ones together.
Dumped all the fails into three pots just in case.
Rest, I'll either save the soil for other seeds or dump it into all of the big planters I have to top off this autumn.

Moved it in general place. Dead of winter is when I'll add fabric, pavers and pots.
Corn in current spot. Will move up and become larger.
Current garden will move over to the right to line up with steps. Or...or I'll leave it where it is....If I'm removing 6 pots plus 2 oval, I don't really...
Planning the 2026 garden.
A- Drug up the small garage frame. I will sew a huge mesh cover for it out of window screen, as that will last decades. It will house; cauliflower, cucumber & pumpkins n such.
Cauliflower will have 4 bins.
Cucumber will have 4 bins & trellis.
Pumpkins n such will have...
Sad pics.
Found a dead hummer.
Went out to watch the barnswallows zoom and a young one sat on the fence, watching me. Noticed a foot away, a hummer hanging off the fence, dead.
=(
Had to get pics, as you never think you'd get this close to one, dead or alive. Plus, a bit educational to find...
