i sure hope so!
as for flooding and sewage spills, it's pretty common in older cities that they first put in combined sewer systems for the stormwater drains and the sewage itself. now when they get funding and the chance a lot of cities are reworking their systems to break them apart which...
is that good or bad? :) a bit of humor but you never know how some people get along. i myself do ok with Mom being here but i am such a homebody that i also like being alone at times so it is also nice if she goes and visits friends once in a while or ...
this morning there was a birdie outside that i was not familiar with, perhaps it was a juvenile catbird, but i really am not sure at all. the catbirds might be long gone for the winter by now anyways. i'll need to do some searching...
well, this is going to take three rounds of digging out today. very wet and heavy. one round done. 20 more minute break for lunch and then i can get back at it.
i think the worst of it is done as it is the wide part of the driveway plus an area off to the side where Mom backs in to turn...
we had forecast of snow and storm warning for today and it did snow last night enough to take the power out for a few hours from trees on the wires someplace. we were the only place that didn't have power my brother said (we call him to look and give us an idea of when they might have the power...
arguing with someone for two days (who's actually read the manual) about changing to a heavier needle in the sewing machine...
and yes, finally got to change the needle this morning and it helped and she was able to get her quilts finished she was working on.
it is a combination of factors to prevent ice building up.
i do not use any ice-melt, sand or salt.
most important, get it shovelled before you walk or drive on it and if it does get driven on use a metal flat blade to scrape that off.
i use a big shovel to push the snow as much as possible...
i haven't done that for a long time. i don't know if it is that my body has adapted to the targeted compounds or if it really doesn't matter, but because i've not suffered any obvious problems i don't worry about it.
we do drain off "the sludge" as Mom calls it, i personally like it and...
sure if you want to fiddle about. :)
i prefer to keep it simple, start your water to boil before you sort and rinse the beans (removing any off colored beans, dust, etc.), when the water is boiling add your beans and lower to a simmer, stirring a few times before they settle down. then stir...
@Shades-of-Oregon i sure understand that sentiment too as cleaning/housework is the last thing i want to do. to make it a little easier on myself sometimes i just spot clean a little and that can be enough before i return to some other thing instead.
our weather here is a bit snowy and windy...
some of moisture from the recent storms has made it over to the Rockies where they keep track of their snowpack like the arid country dwellers they are.
it has boosted the percentage of normal from 45% to 70% over the past few days.
now they are heading into a more warmer and rainy spell which...
a little snow last night and this morning, the sun is coming out now so i'll go out and shovel while it is early enough to get the sun to melt off what is left.
Mom is using her new mixer to make cookies and since i didn't hear any cursing or the smoke detector going off it has been ok. i did...
rambly morning post, i'm not going to redo/rewrite it, good luck, you've been warned... :)
i really can't tell from the description what went on. perhaps the dog was ill or had a stroke or the man did something to the dog while they were out walking because he knew the dog was on it's last...
*makes uhuh face* i've been there and done it and pretty much got over it rather quickly. i really dislike noise and loud noise in the morning is even worse.
this is not a surface level thing i can often ignore or want to ignore - but yes if i'm hungry and that is all that's available i'll...
