What herbs grow well in clay soil? Where I am thinking of planting my herbs isn't heavy clay, but you can tell there is a lot of clay in it.

:D Would using ice cream buckets work? Just a thought. We have a million floating around everywhere. I'd think with a nice coat of spray paint they'd look just fine, and I have planted petunias in them before.

seedcorn - as in, grow all my herbs in pots. I'm not certain how many plants I will be getting, so that makes it a little harder.

Oh, one more question. How big of a space/pot do herbs need?

Wow, thanks for all the replies! I was going to do a pot garden - but with all the herbs I wanted to plant it got pretty expensive. I have lots of scrap boards/wire around that I can use.
