Rebbetzen, it is normal to get fewer eggs in winter unless you provide additional light. Chickens lay eggs based on the amount of light they get. Long summer days=lots of light=nearly daily eggs from most hens! Yum, plenty of eggs for chili rellenos just when the peppers are in season.

Your garden looks terrific as is. For dressing it up, what do you think about painting the wood to match the house? If I did that, I would paint the exterior wood only. Then add 6" trellises to the short ends of a couple of the beds and plant with scarlet runner beans or morning glories...or...
