Elliot Coleman has these composting bin systems. They are like linked hog panels. Anyone using them?

We just get a kill permit. They start you with 7 tags. Trouble is you gotta clean them, call in your kill, and deliver to the Mission within 24 hours. Still, we have never filled all of our tags. Deer go missing out here a lot. So many farms, so many deer, lots of guns....

Sheet mulch. Cardboard and bark. I use landscape fabric (Costco has commercial strength at a steal) in my groomed areas with bark. But I have used tyvec paper too. It works really well, drains, and holds up forever!

Very Fun. you could really get creative with all the colored wires out there now! You can use teh heavy gauge for the frame and colored jewelry wire for effect. Not sure how those wires hold up. Generally though anything kept in shadier areas keeps its color longer and actually shows better.

If scent is an issue for you then chose Asiatic lilies. They come in REALLY bright colors and have no scent. They bloom before their fragrant friends the Orientals. Personally I like having both for a 2 month bloom. Costco usually sells them at a steal this time of year. I like the...

Our Rhody (Rhododendron) recently has begun crisping the edges of the leaves and a white fungus has appeared around the flower buds. It has spread to another nearby bed fellow. Anyone know what fungicide to use. We needn't be organic in that part of the yard as we are far enough from the field.

I like to steam them until almost done. Drain and throw in a pan with a tsp buter and 2 tsp soy sauce. fry quickly and eat. It's great like that chilled on a picnic, although it's not too picknic-y right now. lol
