    One Alaskans greenhouse

I have a renewed appreciation for all the incredible work you do @Alasgun to be so self sufficient with your organic produce all year round. It really is amazing, and in a Northern climate to boot. I was reading this morning about something I have never in my life heard of...

    A Seed Saver's Garden

I was shopping online last night and temporarily lost my mind, I think. I've really done my best to get away from flowers to reduce my bee load for the sake of the seeds, but there are times when I just cannot legit hold down the discipline. I'm hiding behind the fact that I sorta feel like...

Do you wish for sweeter tomatoes?

From a cooking point of view, my experience has been that cherry tomatoes tend to be of little use. Probably too much water, seeds, skin and not enough actual flesh/meat. Adding heat seems to turn them into little puddles of nothingness, or worse, for me.

2026 Little Easy Bean Network – Plant A Garden, Water Your Soul, Join Our Family

Love Nwambili! I grew it in 2021 (I think it was?) Such a pretty bean. I'm glad to know it can produce so well @Blue-Jay , I barely collected 100 seeds from 3 plants that year, they were planted in a bed with other pole beans and none of them in that spot did well. In hindsight, I believe...

    A Seed Saver's Garden

It probably is. There is also the reality that by the time I find the order, its' already paid for. I did a bit of looking into the company, and it gets federal government subsidies as well, so there would not be much sense in trying to resist them. It sucks.

    A Seed Saver's Garden

One of the things I never anticipated dealing with in selling seeds is having orders put in that make me queasy. Like when a GMO developer company orders legume seeds. A part of me wishes they would just do it incognito, and not put a company name to it, and then I'd never know any different...

Do you wish for sweeter tomatoes?

I've found sweetness in tomatoes to be quite varietal, and have had a few that were too sweet.

I've always really liked the 'Nasieddu' beans on your website @Blue-Jay , they're all such nice looking beans. I've been a bit afraid of growing them though; Italian beans have given me a few close calls so far. Most of them have matured in good time, but a few were really cutting it close. I...

    A Seed Saver's Garden

Me: You need to stop sowing more seeds than you have room for. Also me: Sounds like a 2027 problem. All the tomatoes are sown, and 90% are already up! I tested a few older batches of seed lots, back to the first couple years I saved tomato seed. I think that was 2016 (maybe a few in 2015)...

It definitely darkened. Yes, I found that on Guy Dirix's website last night.

I will have a look at my jar of beans tonight, and see what they look like. I'll post a photo, I grew my seeds in 2023.

@Blue-Jay do you think the 'Turkey' bean you have (which I think was called Turkey #1 before if I remember correctly) might be this bean? https://belleepoquemeise.be/le-roi-du-potager/sari-taneli-sera/

    A Seed Saver's Garden

I'm so relieved to have almost all the tomatoes planted, and the 'Schoenbrunn' ground cherries too. I'm actually thrilled to see the cherries up already in a matter of days! Not common for the physalis family! Could not for the life of me find my pump action spray watering can, so I had to...
