    One Alaskans greenhouse

Now were cooking! With the continual Sun its running over 100f in the greenhouse right now. That will change once i open the louvers and turn fans on. But for now and until i get the inside pressure washed; its just fine. Couple more days and ill be bringing all of it on line. Mike

Stop smoking journal and then some

This is very serious stuff AND a lot to process on an on-line forum! You really need to find someone you can talk to though and quit with the “im so worthless” stuff. Your not worthless but you do need a perspective change. This is the last place i’d try to find the kind of answers that will be...

    One Alaskans greenhouse

I’ve shuffled the upstairs areas, making room for “whats next” and am happy with how a lot of this stuff looks this year using different lighting. Top and left are 8 different Bennary Giant Zinnias and on the right are the Greenhouse cucumber starts. Things are going well, so far. Thank you...

    One Alaskans greenhouse

Going all out with Sweet peas this year. All 10 of these are from a couple “fragrance collections” and i’ve got high hopes for them. We grow these every year and this year decided to go “all smell”! The shop floor is one big “heating mat” and works well for these as they also want subdued light...

    One Alaskans greenhouse

Found this big guy lurking in the jungle today; something I must have missed earlier? Cool thing about this strain is they never seem to get bitter - even at this size! Mike (still expecting to find a python in there😳)

    A Seed Saver's Garden

As gardeners we have the ability AND opportunity to influence folks but sadly an awful lot of today’s gardeners are more hobbyist and not interested in the important aspects of producing quality produce. The irony is that these same folks are always amazed at todays cancer rates, autism etc...

Anyone else thinking about adding a greenhouse this spring?

Welcome to the forum. Telling us where your from will generate better answers to your questions! For example, here in Alaska i dont start anything in the greenhouse! Our weather’s too crazy early on and things move so rapidly that waiting for seedlings would consume a lot of our useable season...

Stop smoking journal and then some

I cant think of a stricter test of a persons “Integrity” than quitting smoking, in which case; journaling might be a helpful tool. Integrity = doing what’s right, when no ones looking!🫢 Hope it goes well? Mike

Tell it Sister, and keep reading. You’ll find where they go over un-ripe grains spraying the “Round-up” to ripen the grain. Gives producers more control over the crop allowing them to hurry it along. To date, no one has ever shown me a “valuable use” for herbicides! Mike

Recent Changes - Not Easy to Read

On second thought; if you want to change something, put a curtain on the all to revealing Etsy commercials! Pretty regular i’ve got one that cycles thru that’s a looooooong way from “family friendly” Thanks, Mike

Up-potted 1/2 of the Early Figwort today and am happy to discover how robust they are, not minding a little “rough handling”!

Recent Changes - Not Easy to Read

Proving once again my point that procrastination is always the best policy!! An awful lot of problems will correct themselves; if you ignore them long enough! 🤭

    Organic gardening 2025

Wanting to quit and quitting are two entirely different things! The point here is; “make a decision, right wrong or indifferent; the road of life is paved with Flat Squirrels who couldn't make a decision! Again; out of empathy, not meanness! Mike

Quitting sugar in all forms and most grains will help. The vast majority of Americans diets continually feed and propagate Candida in your gut which causes numerous health issues. In the late 70’s the first Naturopath we ever saw told us “don't make orange juice, just eat the orange” as an...

    Organic gardening 2025

I quit smoking 50 years ago and it was super easy, once i stumbled onto something that worked. As a Machinist your hands are oily a lot which would get on the smokes making them taste bad so i went looking for a way to fix that problem. Living in Odessa Texas at the time i went to a tobacco shop...

    One Alaskans greenhouse

“Just another day in Alaska” I had a little “Farming” to do; shuffling starts, thinning etc which resulted in a tray of cuke starts i didn’t care for so i replanted some more. I set the old ones on the porch and finished up expecting to dump these when i went out to the shop. 1/2 hour later i...

    One Alaskans greenhouse

It was “Pot luck” out at the feeder today! As the weather warms i don’t want a bunch of meat/fat scraps languishing to draw flys and stink. So i dumped the last of it in the trough a couple days ago which set’s well with a half dozen Magpies and a big group of tweety birds. Between them they’ll...
