I'm not trying to defend GMO's at all, but when I had pet rats almost every female got a tumor at some point, and I fed them a pretty healthy diet. I had 12 at one time. They're just really prone to them. That's a big reason why I don't have them anymore.
Just wanted to give an update! This is all the work I did on it today:
1. Found an old dish brush and along with the spray nozzle on the hose got about 99% of the poo off. It didn't even need the soap, but I am going to spray it with a mild bleach solution tomorrow and let it dry over the...
I just had an Idea. Would it work if I stretched some really stretchy fabric or netting across the roof, about a foot below, as kind of a shock absorption?
Thank you! I called the guy who is selling them and told him I would be keeping them in an aviary, and he said it would be fine(specifically said I was worried about that), but what you said is making me think again. I would like to keep them in there because It's already there and I don't have...
Thanks! I was thinking I'll ask my friend to do it but be there when it's done. I'm more afraid I'll be so nervous I'll do it slow and cause them more pain than needed.
I thought about trying one of these little incubators to start...
Thanks! That's why I was thinking of having some other kind of bird in there, too. We're not supposed to have livestock here, so my plan is to make them look like they're there to keep the floor clean of spilled seeds. I don't know what kind of bird will be compatible or will be...
Thanks, no, as I said before it was built for my Husband's grandma when she was alive. I'm sure she's glad it'll be getting some use again:).
I do like it. I said ugly only because it's covered in cobwebs and has junk all around it, most is stuff I pulled out of it. I'm planning on cutesy-ing...
I don't have them yet, going to early next week because I'm going out of town this weekend. I made a post with pictures of the aviary and a ton of questions I would love if you checked out.
Are the Bob Whites good layers, too? What is the difference between them and the coturnix?
So I can't have chickens here, so I'm planning on getting a few Quail. I found this Craigslist post: http://fresno.craigslist.org/grd/3246283680.html
I'm planning on getting 5 Coturnix hens to start out with, and maybe expand as I get comfortable with them. I want to be able to keep them...
"I tricked my mom into making my playpen bigger by jumping out of my old one."
I made her playpen out of storage cubes, can't trust her out of it because she goes under the couch and won't come out. I know she can because one time I threw lettuce on the floor and it was gone a few minutes...
That's exactly what I need. I've been learning a lot by watching youtube, but I need it explained more clearly and detailed. I truly believe this is the way to go in gardening, but I'm having trouble putting it all together in my mind. Plus, I like to have control over things and the concept of...
Maybe that's what I'll tell my sister I want for christmas. She's been bugging me about that. I have time to get books, because right now I'm just going to layer the organic materials on the beds so that it will be ready for planting in spring. That's what I should do over winter when I'm not...
Thanks, everyone! From what I hear this yard used to be a beautiful oasis, when my husband's grandma and great grandparents were alive, and his Grandpa was well enough. I haven't know what do do with it until now. I think a permaculture landscape will be perfect. I'm not reading any books, but...
Sorry about the pic being offset:rolleyes: The front of the property faces East, and it's sunny most of the day from about 6am and that pic was taken probably between 3 and 4 pm. Is that not enough sun. I guess I want you all to tell me what I want to hear:lol:... I love my fruit, and I want to...
