    caging tomatos

    I tried the tomato cages and they just crumble under the weight once the tomatoes start getting big. I ordered tomato ladders from gardeners.com But, I like using two for each plant instead of just one. They really do hold up well. I just planted 8 tomato plants.

    I don't think there is any way that you can keep chickens out of your garden without a fence. Unless you're out there chasing them out every time they go in.

    Japanese beetles on roses

    I make sure the chickens are around and knock them off to the ground. Chickens love them!! Or.. I collect them in a coffee can and feed it to them later. If you don't have chickens, knock them off in a coffee can filled part way with soapy water and let them drown.
