Just curious how far ahead do you guys start your plants from seed.
I will be starting- tomato's, peppers, squash, eggplant for sure may be a few others.
so whats the trick to get lots of good zucchini, I have not had much luck with it and I see lots of ppl saying they grow like weeds and cant eat it fast enough. mine get to about 3-6 inches and rot.
My plan this year is to start peppers, tomato's, eggplant indoors and I will try squash cucumbers and zucchini indoors and also plant a couple direct in the garden and compare. Thanks for the advise
I am just curious about what you guys start in side and what you plant directly in the garden. I am going to try starting my own plants from seed this year. Is there any plants that don't transplant well. I usually plant my squash and cucumbers right in the garden but would I be better off...
Yes I would use new soil if your compost is not good quality. I am diligent about turning my compost and I am sure it gets hot enough in the summer that there is no problem. I also add chicken manure to it so I am confident that I will not have a problem. I may add a bag of good soil every...
I did not really keep them soaking wet. I would water them until the soil was drenched and water was pouring out of the drain holes and I would just do this once a day usually early in the morning.
I set up a hose line that run in to each bag and all I had to do was turn on the tap and it would water all of them at the same time but using a watering wand that is 6 ' long with a angled head on it will work too.
I add light in mine both am and pm. I have it come on at 6 and off at 8 am than on at 7 pm and off at 10, my red sex links only miss about 1 or 2 days a month year round with this method. this is only during winter in short days. as soon as daylight savings comes I turn light off completely.
I was asked to post how I did my tomato's in the upside down planters. I heard a lot of people had bad luck with there's. I tried it this year and yielded more tomato's than ever before. First I built a stand to hang the bags, using 2- 10 foot 4x4' and a 2x6 10 feet long. I put the posts in...
Really I will start a post about it, cause I never had so good luck ever with tomato's and there very low maintenance. I will start a separate thread about how I did it. Feel free to PVT message me with questions also. I cant believe I am giving advise. it is usually me hounding ppl for...
I id all my tomato's in upside down planters and will never do it any other way now. Such low maintenance and yielded way more tomato's than I have ever got before,
