Ohhhhhhhh, and for hybridizing, who can cross up the prettiest most colorful RUGOSA Rose? That'll be a northerner. (Rugosas breed a bit more true to type than most other rose species). For instance, a seed from a self pollinated Hansa will get you roses that look and grow very much a lot like a Hansa.

Cherries! Who can get the most cherries from a single tree?

I bet I would win for having the biggest (sweet) cherry tree with the most cherries, but. . . . I seldom get any of the fruit. Those dratted migrants (cedar waxwings) steal them all during the day and the 'coons get them at night.

I've tried 30 ft water cannon, helium Micky Mouse and Minny Mouse Balloons, bags tied around branches, and noise makers all to no avail. I refused to let DH try a bb gun. I was going to try kaolin clay, but that huge a tree would be hard to cover from the ground. I've had better luck with the dwarf pie cherries and the newest Bing tree. There a scarecrow seems to work rather well.
