2015 Tomato/Pepper Varieties

Just like I've done the past few years, I am going to post what I am putting in my garden this year to keep record for next year. If you have grown any of these, what are your opinions of them?

TOMATOES

- Mucho Nacho
- Sweet Banana
- Hungarian Wax
- Anaheim
- Aji Amarillo
- Poblano
- Serrano del Sol
- Colossal Bell
(New to Me Varieties)
- North Star Hybrid
 
Black Sea Man -- my absolute fave tomato! Of course you already knew that from my prior ravings.

Thank you for the seeds you sent. It seems thanks to you, that I will be having a dark season for growing tomatoes and I am excited about it. You are a great friend and this is a great site for making great friends.

Of your new items, the Supersonic are the only ones I've had. It's been over 10 years ago, but I do recall my FIL growing them several times as one of his favorites.

Mucho Nacho is back on my list again this year too. I've tried a couple other jalapenos because I was looking for something OP to save seeds from (Mucho Nacho is a hybrid). I'll keep looking at others, but I will make Mucho Nacho my main one since we use a lot of jalapenos. They are really large and are resistant to cracking and have good heat.

Serranos, Hungarian Wax and Sweet Bananas make a yearly appearance in my garden too. I'm wanting to try Anaheim to make diced chiles to can.
 
You know, if you need to rely on something, it's difficult to take too many risks. I've had Jalapeno M the last few years and am kinda so-so on 'em. All are hot but Mucho Nacho was a little mucho for me. Early Jalapeno again this year.

You have tossed Ultimate Opener and even Early Girl this year, HPQ. I didn't find Ultimate Opener earlier or more flavorful than EG.

I want to find out what @marshallsmyth 's original Lemon Boy amounted to before he began the dehydration process. So, I'll have that one this year.

Happy to have Anaheim again. I'm interested in knowing what your experience will be with North Star bells :).

I usually plant about 10 Anaheims because we freeze 'green chilies' and can seasoned and unseasoned tomatoes and green chilies. They are a must every year!

I had terrible luck with Ultimate Opener last year. I don't know what happened. Early Girl did ok for me, nothing spectacular. I have some seeds left from last year and I may plant some to see if they do better. I am a huge Lemon Boy fan- always produces loads of fruit and has a nice mellow flavor. Excellent addition to canning tomato juice!
 
I'm with you on Lemon Boy. I bought it a few years ago for a clearance table and now it's a staple.

It never fails to give me a tons of tomatoes.

@HotPepperQueen what recipe do you use to can tomatoes with green chilies?
