2026, My year of Garden Narcissism

If'n you like it, and don't mind typing out the recipe, please share. Making pumpkin bisque was repeated quite a few times and I like it! DW on the other hand . . .

Post it on @Marie2020 's thread or somewhere, if you don't feel it appropriate to use the "eating from the garden" thread. My sweet potato hot cakes response to Marie was quite silly 🤭.

🤣

Ignore him Ducks, I do

I'd love it if you would post on my thread I am a bit of an hoarder with collecting different pieces of information. Recipes being one of them. :pop

"What's cooking and what recipe do you have to share today".

While my 2 DD's that live close are out of town, I have promised to text my other DD after I feed ponies, which involves stairs to the loft, which, for those who Don't know are real, albeit steep steps, AND to text after I drive to the other DD's house to feed their cats.
Otherwise, I am going Nowhere. Good news--the 2 heads of green cabbage in the fridge had only minimal outside leaf damage, so I have plenty to make the slaw!
:popI could eat coleslaw forever 😋

I didn't make the pumpkin soup Yet. I will let you know when I do. I still have 4 pie pumpkins to process.
I have had really good squash soup before, so I have high hopes.
Pie was great, but I won't add ground cloves again--too much! :sick
BBQ was perfect! I didn't think so--it took forever to thaw, and I didn't think it had enough time to cook down in the crock pot. BUT!! I really enjoyed the celery and onions crunchy. We ate 2 meals, and I froze 3 more bbq meals.
Eldest DD insisted on mac and cheese, which she makes with 1/2 and 1/2 and added cheese.
I made 1 1/2x normal slaw bc of the 2 cabbages. That keeps well in the fridge, but the 3 of us are going to be eating a lot of slaw this year--cheap, healthy and doesn't go bad fast.
I followed a recipe for pumpkin seeds. It involved brining for 12-24 hours, then dehydrating.
When I put the dehydrator tray over the sink to pour the seeds on top, most of them fell right through!
So, I put parchment paper down first.
Youngest DD is thrilled at a pint of pumpkin seeds to snack on.

Btw, I make fresh pumpkin pie from an old recipe on a can of Libby's pumpkin, which was:
one 16 oz canned pumpkin
one 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
YOUR choice--pumpkin pie spice (mixed) OR cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg
3 eggs-0-some people like 2 eggs--try it the way You like
You Don't have to have milk available for this and I have always like the sweetened condensed milk taste
I do NOT prebake the crust
Start at 425 degrees for 15 minutes, then drop down to 350 degrees and set you timer for 35 minutes to test
A knife or toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean when it's done.
You may substitute sweet potatoes for the pumpkin, especially when it's out of season.
