A brand new species of bee has beeen found in, of all Places, Brooklyn. It is a tiny bee and one of the so called sweat bees but is potentially a very efficient pollinator. If you know Brooklyn you know that most of the "wildflowers" there exist only in vacant lots and cracks in the sidewalk but apparently that habitat exactly suits this little bees lifestyle.

I don't know about other ethnicities but there are a lot of Italians in Brooklyn and where you find Italians you are very likely to find a garden with at least tomatos, peppers and onions planted; nevertheless this little bee has been able to make it for many years in an area better known for asphalt than earth. Life finds a way.
