A Look at life in Belize

Dang Warthog, I believe you need help with all that landscaping...
Ever consider adopting a 55 year old

Very beautiful place you have, I too am green with envy.

pharmerphil, yes certainly alot of work to be done.

But I do love a challenge.

It's rainy season at the moment, I was out there a 6.30am trying to get some general maintenance done, before tackling the next bit, then it rains arrrrrrrrrrgh.

But we do need the rain, or nothing will grow. At this time of year it just feels like you are playing catch-up all the time. Everything grows at such a terrific rate out here. The bush just get's higher and higher, that's why we have goats.

If I didn't have family obligations in the states I would really consider a move to Belize. I just hope the big money boys don't turn it into another Bahamas.
Call me an old wide eye rebel or as the kids say WHATEVER! :frow

.But you all act like you never have a say in how your lives are to be run.and as I look in to my crystal ball . I see that there will come a time when some in the world WILL say.NO.I dont think so! :duc

I hear what you're saying but if you have a wife with Alzheimers living out the last of her life you can't just pack up and go.

Sorry to hear about your wife Hoodat. :hugs

Not everyone can just pack up and go, for many reasons.

We did, we were lucky, and I am certainly not here to make anyone envious, If you could all see the work to be done here, you would probably think I had gone stark staring mad!!! :barnie

I went through the work of starting from scratch and building my own little homestead but the work is light when you are working toward a dream. Those were the happiest years of my life.

Beautiful place Warthog and as hoodat said, it's hard work but there's nothing like working to make your dream come true to keep happy. :thumbsup

Hoodat, sorry to hear of your wife's illness. So sad. Your statement is so inspiring- the work is light when you are working towards a dream. How lovely and true!

Yes Hoodat, so true. I am out there most days, working away, I actually spend more hours working now, than I did before I retired, but it's what I want to do and make all the difference.

Also, I believe, the more I can do now (58) the more I will be able to do when I am 70+, in that it will keep me a lot fitter. That may also be a dream but one I hope comes true.

Hoodat - your a star, thank you. :thumbsup
