Young people who have been injured in our service who may have legs or arms that don't work or are missing, they want to ski, but need a bit of help to adapt. There are also phyical or cocnitive issues in the general population.
Here is some of the equipment we demoed for the ski industry some years back that are in use.

I may not be able to post a picture on the opening post.

Here wifey is showing a piece of sit down equipment, Bi-ski, with our youngest on board.

The Tethers allow the Adaptive Instructor to direct the skis or aid in steering.

Wifey, Nicole, is a P.S.I.A. Adaptive Examiner and Trainer, she's an Adaptive Co- ordinator of an on mountain program for people in need of aid in use and enjoyment of the mountain. She Examines professional instructors for certification and trains professional instructors for On Mountain.

She selects and we maintain and in some cases make what is needed.

The ski industry leases land from the U.S. Forestry Service. Yesterday wifey guided the Director of Forestry, who is totally blind, who with a group of forestry officials over mountain terrain, he skis at level 6, that's pretty good. Proper blind on mountain guiding ,done safely, is quite a skill.

Today I'm going in for a Bi-ski lesson and will be Role Playing. I'll be a Right Brained TBI.
-------------------
Wifey is training instructor, for an examine. They need to know the Meds and Red Flags of injuries.
---------------------
Right Brained TBIs typically don't know they are injured, they can do every thing, THEY THINK, they take Meds but deny that. May have seizures and may deny that.

Today I'll have left leg paralysis, strong left arm but weak left hand so they'll have to Tape my hand to the Rigger. My upper body will tilt to the left.
I won't understand all of what the instructor is telling me, I can do anything, I think, I won't recognize that I can't do these things.

Youngest daughter will have Friedreich's Ataxia and will be in a rig also.

And do all resorts have such equipment?
Yes, I think so. A year or two ago, I went to a ski resort with my parents. I don't remember exactly, I think it was a Steamboat, it doesn't matter, it was some kind of resort from http://bluehouseskis.com and there were specialists who, however, for a fee, helped people with disabilities to enjoy recreation and skiing, looked after them. And besides, there was an ambulance crew on duty there. It is very cool that nowadays even people who have problems with their limbs can feel like people, enjoy life. This is right and humane. Great respect for such resorts that have such a service. I think any resort that respects its guests has it. At least in the USA.
