With the New Yorker having a maturity date of 63 days I could probably get a good test run this year and then do a run in the spring. I might just have to get into this tomato battle in the spring.

Did a little lookin into this New Yorker tomato, turned over some rocks and went down a rabbit hole or two and with the pedigree that it has this tomato has the heritage to be a very good tomato for slicing and canning.
Digging into the pedigree I found some really good tomato lines back there.
Tomatoes like Fireball, Rhode Island, Allred, Break O'Day, Bison and Cooper's Special are just a hand full in the heritage of the New Yorker and most if not all that I listed were popular commercial grown tomatoes at there time.

Last year my garden was a failure. The only tomatoes I got to can were New Yorker because they were early. I guess it’s on for next year. We’ll have the Alex Limato New Yorker tomato contest!

OK, if we are going to do this, we need to set some ground rules. (Can’t bide no cheatin). Feel free to add whatever rule you deem necessary. Need to decide if majority vote wins, reigning queen @aftermidnight gets to pick winner, or we use a real complicated formula of my choosing that no one understands-you know, like how we elect a president.....

I agree with @seedcorn were going to set some rules on this contest.
I'll assume that were doing a seed to first fully ripe fruit, would I be correct thinking that?
If I could suggest, I think we should have a "check in" were each person in the contest posts the date there seeds are in the ground [with possible picture] then posts there first fully ripe fruit along with the number of day it took them to get from seed to fruit.
We then use that number to determine who had the quickest seed to "harvest" and determining the winner.
Doing something like this would help keep it fair for growers in all USDA growing zones.

Last time, those involved just voted for the best entry-nothing complicated. I should have been the winner (I was robbed I tell you) as my unique dead plant should have won over @aftermidnight entry-don’t give me this crap about it was perfect. I was robbed! & I didn’t even get invited to card game she and her husband have.
