Great news!

My love just got a letter saying she was approved for a grant to go back to school.

I am happy for her as I know she is way above the job she accepted to make ends meet at home here.

Sorry to share my life so much, but I feel good to share with my friends the good times as well as the bad!

Yay for Eby!!!! Going back to school is hard work!
I am looking forward to it again.

I learn so much when I help her study!

I've been thinking about taking some Botanical classes myself.
They would have to be online though. Does anyone know of any thing like this?

DD took an online course thru the local community college. I'm sure that they are fairly common now. She had to show up only twice on campus that summer.

She stayed with it which is better than her father did with a correspondence course back in the Pleistocene. However, I wasn't faced with her need to complete a curriculum in 8 semesters after having, shall we say, less than a full load just a little too often.

:weee

Anyway, DD found it a worthwhile experience and transfered the credit to her 4 year college degree. She had intended to take 2 classes, however, and 1 wasn't going to transfer. If you can swing it, you may as well kill as many stones with 1 bird as you can, Joe.

Thanks Steve I need to look into it.

I am bad about thinking about doing something and actually doing it sometimes.

I think I lack the follow through gene!

Any University with an Agricultural department offers classes in Botany. It is usual easiest to enroll in a Community College class. Online classes are the Best! But, BEWARE of the deadlines, because they are written in STONE! Also, many of them expect you to log in to their class forum BEFORE the start date. (not that participating in a forum would be hard for YOU! :gig )

I did a quick search of our local C-College to see what you could take if you lived in my county. Here is a list of next semesters AG courses that you could enroll in without a pre-requisite:
Parkland Community College Spring, 2010
AGB-102-Intro to Agr Economics
AGB-103-Intro to Crop Science
AGB-212-Weed Identificatn/Contrl
AGB-200-Intro to Soil Science
AGB-214-Precision Farming Technlgy
AGB-313-Soil Fertility/Fertiliz
and
**BIO-104-Environmental Biology
BIO-109-Intro to Plant Biology
Or, perhaps...
HRT-253-Herbaceous Plants

I went back for teacher certification a few years back and had to take 100 hours post-Bachelors, so I'm kindof a class junkie! I LOVED the Environmental Biology class but it was just crammmed with information. One course, in the winter/spring can be lots of fun--GO FOR IT!! :hugs
