Anyone Grow Mushrooms ?

We just got one. Well, my nine year old got one (she's a mushroom eater). And it seems pretty straightforward. We only paid $10 for it at World Market. It's Oyster Mushrooms we have the kit in the laundry room and it seems to be doing okay. Have about 6 days before it's supposed to start producing.

Update on my daughter's mushrooms. After 14 days they have sprouted. We had all but given up. But, I didn't get around to throwing it away. When we got up this morning they were sprouted. They are still very small so, we'll give it a few more days and see what happens.
On another note Homedepot had a button mushroom kit for $85.00 today. It had spores,compost type stuff, lights and other various items. I didn't take a good look because I was running late for something else.

I know some mushrooms have to have a small amount of light. I watched a documentary once where they had them under blue light. I don't know what color these were or the purpose if them. I don't know enough about growing them to make an educated guess.
My daughter now wants to really grow them. I see lots of research in my future.

Since moving to the south I haven't gone mushroom hunting like we did while I was growing up (mostly in my teen years!) so I haven't had any morel mushrooms in several years. I just found a kit to grow morel mushrooms online in the last couple of days. I'm trying to convince hubby to buy it for me as an Easter present... he thinks I'm crazy because he's never heard of hunting mushrooms that don't get you high.
