Apples and early freeze

The easiest and QUICKEST cover would be a canvas tent. We have several tents. They have metal grommets--you could run a clothesline through the grommets to secure. If it's fairly new, the canvas will also shed water.

My final suggestion: Canvas tent after you thread outdoor Christmas lights, but don't let the lights touch the canvas, because they'll burn through it.

Ok. Found the Christmas lights. I have 2 strings on each apple tree and 3 net light sets on the pear.

I doubt it is going to protect all the blooms but it should go a long way to making sure I get SOME fruit off the trees.

The pear tree is a bit shorter now too

I bugged hubby to trim it for 2 years. He took too long so I lopped off part of the top. I know...not the right time to do that, but I snapped.

If nothing else, my back yard should look really cute. I will try and get some pics.

I hope MY apple trees are ok, we're going down to 33 tonight. My tree's are full of blooms.
We have been luckier than most the past few years, our tree's were the only ones in the area with apples a few years. We live up on a hill, and the apple tree's are in our back yard, with the coop and barn on their north side, the garage on their west and the house on their south side... they seem to be well protected for the most part.

I've been sweating it out ... we had apple blossoms about a week early this year.

I would think the lights would help ... GOOD LUCK, ALL!

It got down to 28 last night. It looks like the lights helped. Tonight will be another cold one. The real test will be when the fruit starts to set.

My back yard looked so pretty last night...LOL

Yeah...but they aren't as effective on the house in the front yard when the trees are in the back yard!

Hope they will make it, I saw a big fat bumble bee making the rounds on my tree's... I heard him first, a nice deep buzz, like the harley of bees'...
