I have a bird feeder next to a window box. The window box is planted with Johnie jump ups. I have notice something growing among them. What are they ?

Transplant them and see what happens. Not like there's a shortage of those seeds or critters to plant them for you

They are tall for transplanting.

I treat sunflowers like melons, cukes and squash. Move them fully soaked and with as little soil disturbance as possible.

Really, sunflowers transplant well but those are past the age of any sunflowers I've ever tried to move.

By this time I usually have the window boxes changed from pansy to summer annual. The johnie jump ups doing so well I don't want to pull them yet.

The sunflowers you buy for bird seed are hybrids. So you can expect anything in terms of height, flower width and number of flowers per plant.
