It makes you wonder where all this will end. If they keep putting more and more GMO crops out we will have to turn our backyard gardens into covered labs to keep out contamination. Maybe we will have to garden in big green houses and pollinate with little paint brushes to keep the heiloom seeds pure! That may be far fetched, but maybe not!
I'm all for cheaper alfalfa, which wll be the end result here. Genetically modifying something doesn't make it bad. People don't bad-mouth gene replacement when it cures people's diseases/cancer (or maybe some people do), but it's the same thing on a smaller scale and I'd be 100% for it if it saved one of my family members or friends. We're currently fighting a losing battle with Greening in our citrus groves. We don't have anything to prevent or cure it yet. If they don't come up with some way to prevent/treat or figure out a way to genetically modify citrus trees it will essentially wipe out citrus production in this country eventually (sooner rather than later). People don't realize what NOT doing these things may mean for the farmer. To us it will mean losing the farm that's been in our family for 3 generations. Not trying to start a debate...just my opinion.
