Bag Gardening...talk about a no-work system

Oh yeah, I suggested this to a friend of mine who will NOT garden... she drives me nuts and eats most of my garden items all summer long. GET YOUR OWN WOMAN!

I thought that looked like an excellent idea, for stating plants. I saw it after I already filled a bizilion pots with dirt...

Are these new to the US ? We call them GROWBAGS & we have had them around for at least 20 years in the UK.

They are very popular but you have to be sure of buying good quality ones as the cheap ones are rubbish. Also they are not approved of by a lot of people as they contain a lot of peat which of course is from a non-sustainable source.

:frow Hattie,

This, American version, involves cutting open a bag of topsoil, straight from the store, plopping it on the ground and planting in it. Not like the nicer, reusable bags you use over there.

Hi boggy b,

Our Growbags are only used once generally, although they say you can use them again for something like lettuces. Most people just use them as something they tip out on their gardens & mix in with compost & garden soil. They sound like pretty much the same thing to me...!?

Wow....and this whole time, I thought they were reused, cause, in the pictures, they look so sturdy.
Then, basically, I reckon, it is the same....there's just no "transfer" of the growing median with this "way".

I will be growing sweet potatoes in bags. Not like that though. I am using some 50# feed bags filled with dirt and compost. Just waiting for it to get warmer! :P

Bag gardening seems like a good idea especially if you dont have a lot of space or your running out of space.. :D

My mom did that and she got bent carrots. They were funny looking!:D
