@ducks4you I named them. I also name some of my chickens. And I write their name on the freezer bag. After my husband has dined and bragged how delicious the chicken and dumplings was, I remark, Stella tasted good, didn't she? (to his horror) BWA-HA-HA-HA

Equipment shed: no heat/cold metal
Greenhouse: warmth & green plantsI think Steve is brilliant and made a great choice. Of course, living in New York -- like living in South-est, central-est Wisconsin -- may make working in an unheated pole barn look good.

I name all my animals for food if they stand out and earn a name. Names are just words and don't effect the nature of the animal at all. The named ones taste just like those without a name, I've found.

When one identifies the meat with either a name or number, one gets valuable information that gives you a real clue as to selecting the animal individuals in a flock or herd with wanted characteristics that has the genetic makeup to improve on the next generation. Scientists and knowledgeable farmers do this through progeny testing and all of us benefit from them.

Bacon will go quite well with eggs for breakfast,My pigs are named Bacon, Sausage and Pork Chop.
Sausage will be very tastey in " pigs in a blanket" for brunch
Pork chop will be invited to a Bar B Que as the guest of honor for dinner .

BABIES!!!! BABIES!!!! BABIES!!!!
That was all I could splutter in my cell phone to my husband when I checked on the sheep this morning. What?? Babies? Baby what? Finally I got LAMBS! BABY LAMBS! out of my mouth and he came running. Not only did a ewe have twins last night, but TWO ewes had lambs last night and they both had TWINS!! I have four of the cutest lambs! Ram lamb and ewe lamb for each ewe. I spent most of the day with them. I let the other two ewes out of the enclosure and sat on a milk crate, just watching and marveling at the miracle before my eyes.
I took lots of pics, but have a brand new I-phone and can't figure out how to get the pictures off. When I do, just get ready for an overload of pictures. I am a sheep grandma!
