We had temps in the 90's on Tuesday, middle 80's Wednesday, but today we wont see 65!!!! Over night low tonight in the 40's

wow, dew! y'all are getting right down to winter fast. i'm still waiting (eagerly) for us to drop into the 60s at night. next week we will drop into the upper 80s for a high. that will be a nice step in the right direction.

I've been reading the last couple of days about the artic sea ice has increased 60% this year from last year & some are saying we are headed into a cool down. hummmm?

Apparently, the Arctic is doing better than recent years. The Japanese are interested in these sorts of things as you can imagine with so many low-lying cities. Here is an easy to understand graph from their aerospace agency:

Ummm, so far this summer, not one night-time low of 70 . BJ, you need some elevation.

That's weird that more ice is forming in the arctic. Mostly all we hear is about the polar ice caps melting at an increasing rate. Mebbe this will freeze them back up a little!

We have a cool front and expect high temps to be no higher than 93 degrees for the rest of the week. Ya'll might laugh, but that really is some cooler relief here.

After a nasty dust storm to start the week, we may have finally had it, the big cool down.

The little bit of rain that followed the dust storm all the wind was not quite enuf to wash the dust off of things. Monday, it didn't warm above 60f until afternoon. Of course, I was out in the garden, in some more wind, without anything but a thin shirt for hours on Monday . . . I shouldn't have believed that the weather service was promising light wind and sunshine early. Their 77 missed the mark!

It is now breezy and 52 with a promised high of 65. It really should be okay and there's another 80 predicted for Friday. After that, we'd better be happy with 70's. I'm sure I will be but several high temperature records look like they are behind us.

It could be much worse. A town in the Columbia Basin had 90's for 5 days last week, then the dust rolled over them. They got a good washing however, power outages, lightening strikes, high winds and toppled trees! Their local newspaper called it a "blast" but I don't think they meant as in fun . . .
