cabbage caterpillars

I grow cabbage in the winter.
This is the best advice of all. I've tried growing cabbage for years and have had the same results of holy heads to show for all my work. Last fall I planted both Dutch and Chinese cabbage and made the first crop ever without it being eaten up by the bugs and worms. The great thing about fall gardening is that you grow out of the heat and out of the bugs as opposed to spring gardening. I've even had good results planting corn in mid to late August and making a good crop before the first frost. Now that being said, I do live in the deep south and we do have a much longer growing season so I can get away with it.

Fall garden for lettuce, greens of all kinds, brassicas, green onions and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. Spring garden for everything else. Early early early spring garden for 'taters! August-everything is dead except for the sweet potatoes.

I HAVE LOST THE WAR!!!!! :he I pulled all my broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower skeletons from my garden! I will try again in the fall. :hit Had planned to make my first sauerkraut. Well next time I guess!

You lost the battle, you'll get them next time. Get some BT, it works. I'm fighting asparagus beetle larva right now, but I can't tell it the BT is working because it's raining EVERY DAY. I know how you feel.:hugs
