Can these grow in containers or must be planted?

There's no way the bit of dirt, compost and 3 bags of dirt will be enough for the 4 bins. Will have to see if I can mix a bit of clay as well. Maybe then it'll be okay.
Too busy today, so working on it tomorrow.

They had tons of butterfly bushes. One was sad looking, so got this kind.


This plant looks like a shade plant, had to get it. Hope it lives so i can get more of them. It looks neat.
