The husks from ground cherries, japanese lanterns... Something like that. I love them. The skeletons of plants are so cool!

Weird, rabbit forums call them wild ground tomatoes, aka, deadly...
Until I started searching seed websites, I didn't know there are many varieties and that the rabbit people might be wrong.
I have yellow, 1/2" fruits, eventually, I find those capsules. Some are solid, others perforated like you pictured. I still refuse to put rabbits near them, nor do I allow my birds to each them. Better safe than sorry...

i think the chinese lanterns are the deadly ones. they could also be from ground cherries which i know are edible for people. or tomatillos, which i have tried to grow but not with any success.

Yep, better to be safe than sorry Sec. A lot of them are good to eat though, but unless ya know exactly what one ya have, don't try it.

There's a something similar that grows wild too, usually a field weed. I'm pretty sure those are poisonous. I've spray-painted them gold and used them in decorations though.
