Last night I saw a commercial – I don’t remember what it was about – but part of it was this dad trying to hula-hoop and his little girl rolling her eyes.
Well – it got me wondering… and there is this little mini-hula-hoop that I got for the 6 yr old who comes with her Grandma to my Monday night group… So I got up and gave it a try.
I tried just ‘hula-ing’ to start it off – I tried giving it a spin to spin to start it off – I tried both together… I kept trying, maybe 15 or 20 times – each time it ended up around my knees almost instantly.
Well, eventually I gave up and turned around to go back to my nice, comfy, completely adult recliner – and there was Gilligan - my border collie-x.
He was standing in the middle of the room, his head was turned to the side with his nose pointed a little down so that he had to look out of the back corner of his eye at me – standing there with a mini hulu-hoop around my middle grinning like a fool….
If it’s possible for a dog to look ashamed and embarrassed by something someone else did – that is the expression he had on his face. Exactly the same (doggy version) of a teen wishing his parents were invisible. He might as well have said “Oh my gawd! I can’t believe that you actually stood there – where everyone can see you – and did that! What is wrong with you?!?!”
Then he turned around and slinked off behind the chair.
I laughed so hard I had to go to the bathroom!
