Here's the thing not growing, sure it as remained same size for years. Will get photos this weekend.

@Smart Red , are yours all nursery plants, or do they also grow native in Wisconson? I wondered if the needle might be less of a big deal in cultivated ones.

All mine started as one nursery plant. The rest are divisions I made or something the wildlife planted.

I once posted about planting bind weed where I could not grow vines.

I'll see your bindweed and raise you my grasp vine. Bindweed can choke almost anything, but grasp vine can choke bindweed (plus you don't get the pretty flowers)

Oh and one other thing worth warning about on yuccas. A lot of the long lived species are terminal flowering. That means that, while you are right that almost nothing will kill them when they are plants, the moment they DO make a flower spike that's it, the plant dies. One shot per plant is all you get.
