Can you ID these plants?

I love IDing plants! :clap Apparently I'm not the only one....;)

So I thought I would post a few pics for the fun of it to test y'alls skills... :D

These are from a few summers ago when our family was vacationing in the Traverse City, Michigan area. Looking at these pics again makes me want to go back....:coolsun Ah... Lake Michigan. :love

I think I know what type of plant this is...not positive though....your thoughts?
and this is its natural habitat. :D I found it in the rocks by the pier:

This is at Sleeping Bear Dunes in Empire, MI...sorry if the plant is a little hard to see...at least you can see its natural habitat! :p
I know what this one is ;) ...do you?

I cannot identify the first one by a specific name, but I would venture to guess it is related to the Scorpion flower or Heliotrope.

As for the second picture I would say this is a form of Thistle; most likely Canadian Thistle

Getting warmer....hint....it's a threatened species....

no clue on the first one. never seen anything like it. if i had to throw out a wild donkeyed guess i'd say some relative of Statice.

the other one looks like a thistle.

It does look Statice-y...but no....

the other one looks like a thistle.
:thumbsup It's a species only found on sand dunes along the Great Lakes....
