I think we might have finally put the lid on canning season for the year. (Is that a bad pun or what). We're nearly out of jars and lids, have gone through many pounds of salt and many more pounds of sugar. Today I made apple jelly and apple-grape jelly. I still have some apple and grape juice, but no more jelly jars. Maybe I'll freeze it. I do have some scattered quart jars left and the potatoes still need dug. I might pair those up and can some more taters.

Frankly, I'm exhausted. We are trying to give away the tomatoes we don't need. I am not canning any more of those! Dew and I went through everything we put up this year to get an idea of where we were. She has the final list, but I think we did OK despite the bad weather this year. We certainly have enough pickles ;) I'm looking forward to weekends and evenings not spent in the kitchen.

Oh that is a terrible pun!!!!!!! I thought you would have come up with something a little more clever than that!!!! We deserve a day and night away from the kitchen. I hope t apple and apple grape jelly turns out. With the crappy weather we have had we did pretty good :D

You guys were amazing! I would love to see a picture of all those jars! If not, I'll settle for a total number.

Yeah, I'd love to see your totals too or a pic of your canning shelf. You guys sure worked your fannies off! What a nice feeling that is to stand in your pantry and look at all those colorful jars side by side. :bun I've still got apples and beans to go, as well as a few stray tomatoes that I don't want to waste (probably make salsa.) I'll get a couple weeks of break, then I'll move on to chicken stock when we do our processing and I've also thought about canning some of the dark meat pieces this year. Then a couple more weeks and there will be some deer to do up... When I get bored and start to miss my canner, I do dried beans throughout the winter because we eat so many of them. :)

Give me a few days to recover from all the canning we have done. I took inventory yesterday. I will get pics taken over the weekend and post them.
