Here is my problem. I have several gallons of blueberries taking up space in my freezer. I don't have time to process them all now(going to make jelly and syrup) but was wondering If I could crush the berries, can them in quart size jars without sugar or pectin , and store them until later when I have time to make them into jam or jelly? Will they stay preserved without sugar or pectin?

I have The Ball brand Blue Book. & it has info for "Raw Pack" canning Blueberries (or Huckleberries):

Raw Pack - Blueberries (or Huckleberries)

These berries may be canned in syrup or water, but the method given here is better if berries are to be used in muffins, etc. Put 2 or 3 quarts clean berries in square of cheesecloth. Hold cloth by corners & dip into boiling water until spots appear on cloth. Dip into cold water. Pack into hot jars, leaving 1/2 inch head apace. Add neither sugar nor liquid. Adjust caps. Process pints 15 minutes, quarts 20 minutes in boiling water bath.

Hope this helps. :) Love Ball for it's great info & variety of recipes.
