We went out fishing today and I caught a greenling! Pretty good size too!

It must be nearly a civil offense to say so, living in the PNW, but I am not much of a fan of salmon. DW is, and we have salmon a couple of times a month.

My brother worked for a short time on a fishing boat. Especially, I remember him showing up with buckets of crabs but the boat alternated to Cod during that season. Very good.

Living on the northern California coast for several years was quite the introduction to seafood. Dairies were also important there and it was also a good introduction to quite a variety of different cheese.

We use to catch them while fishing over the side in some of the anchorages we frequented of an evening. They were good eating AND they were the preferred bait for Ling Cod; whole/live.
I've heard they are great bait for ling cod! The fishing rules here in WA are rather draconian. You can only fish ling cod in May. There are some fish here that you can only catch a couple days in the entire year! Plus you can't fish deeper than 120 feet for lots of the fish. I've heard Alaska has WAY better fishing rules. It must be because there are more fish there!
