Good Morning everyone! Another hot and humid day here today so here in a few going to go outside and do what I need to do so once it does really heat up I don't have to be out in the heat unless the dogs need to go out.

thanks for the coffee. My roof duties are done until Saturday. Taking the day off. I’ll do laundry and put clean sheets on the beds.

Got my first zucchini last night. Just barely big enough to pick but I am excited. I love to sauté it in butter with garlic salt, then put it in a colby cheese sandwich with the cheese all nice and melty.
Summer squash is the only thing producing so far, except for a bunch of romaine. It looks like my apple, apricot and peach trees are going to have bumper crops this year
Fen has really been coming along and trying to be a good boy lately, with short lived criminal behaviors now and then. This morning he stole the trash can out of the bedroom and put it in the middle of the living

room, trash intact. He’s also learned to take off my compression gloves for me which is a huge help. I never dreamed a dog could do that but Fen is not your average dog. Yeah, dirt under my nails. It’s a chronic condition.

The raspberries are doing great. Fen has been picking everything he can reach down low. He’s got a “sophisticated palate”. He loves blueberries, apples, raspberries, strawberries, but not big on veggies.

This batch goes in the freezer, tomorrow’s goes into the yogurt I made today.

Got my horse ready to ride tomorrow. I can’t wait!! I spent my whole life on horseback but now it’s been 6-7 years. I hope I never have to quit again. It would be nice to be able to work again.
Welp, this was too long for y’all to read. Coffee is cold.

Traveled for hours to get to North Indiana about an hour from Chicago. So of course I had my customary starbucks and spicy doritos (normally it's flaming hot cheerios but hubby couldn't find them).

Good Morning all!!! It's 72 with rain and thunderstorms here this morning, suppose to stop in an hour though but then start back up this afternoon then tomorrow and Sunday there's chances for afternoon showers.
After I completed the outside work yesterday I came in and "assigned" colors the colors of my color scheme to my bride squad for their dresses. The "Team Men' is going to have the same color shirts as the Bride Squad; MATRON of HONOR Sage Dress (Best Man Sage shirt), BRIDESMAID 1 Dark Purple (Groomsmen 1 Dark Purple shirt), BRIDESMAID 2 Lavender/Lilac Dress (Groomsmen 2 Lavender/ Lilac Shirt), BRIDESMAID 3 Lavender/Lilac Dress (Groomsmen 3 Lavender/Lilac Shirt), BRIDESMAID 4 Dark Purple Dress (Groomsmen 4 Dark Purple shirt), BRIDESMAID 5 Country Purple "Periwinkle" Dress (Groomsmen 5 Country Purple "Periwinkle" Shirt). I'm also going non traditional by having 2 couples walk me down the center to FH ( 1 lady is going to be in Sage dress with her husband in Sage shirt and the other couple is going to be wearing Country Purple "Periwinkle").

Good Morning. Oatmeal with chopped and cooked apple, a T raisins, brown sugar, shake of cinnamon, cream cheese, and almond milk in the bowl. First breakfast so there's oolong tea.

It's 55°f and suppose to hit 92° this afternoon, may go over 100° on Sunday (13°C, 33C, 38C).

I'm supposed to pick up a new air conditioner, today. The one that has done a yeoman's job for 14 years must have clicked up on it's own on Wednesday afternoon. I had to shut it off! Then, it failed to do any cooling and only run fans, yesterday. Wasn't prepared for that after being away all morning and missing some of the cool-down that can be accomplished with one window open, fans in every room, and a box exhaust fan in one window. Waiting this AM for DW to exit the bed so that I take FULL advantage of the coolness outdoors.

Remote control for the new AC. Risky -- just one more thing to go wrong. Sheesh. One seldom has to tamper with it beyond on & off. A little tower fan sits in the living room and it can run at vary speeds. One more tower fan can move cool living room air off to the bedroom as sleepy time approaches. Ah yes, not having an "open floorplan" in this old house makes some sense for simple technology.

Reading the Phoenix newspaper this morning online. Good Gracious. Those temperatures! The articles are so much about what can be done for protection.

Oh yeah, want to have the little backyard veggie garden well watered and this is a good time for that ...

I got ceiling fans with remote controls one time. Never again. Remote broke, cost half the cost of a new fan, so just bought new fans.

I'll trade you some of our Vermont rain for some of your hot, dry, and (I assume) sunny weather!

Rain continues today and more predicted for every day this coming week. In addition to washed out roads, totalled cars, drowned homes and businesses, farms here have lost entire crops. I feel bad for these farmers, both large and small, organic and conventional.

My own gardens and potted plants are stunted from lack of sun, very few flowers blooming. My cherry tomatoes and summer squash in this photo are way behind where they should be. One benefit: I haven't had to water any of my container plants all summer so far.

I'm old and and I know pop tarts are horrible for you, nutrition wise, but I sure did love them when they were invented!! One every few years, now, fills that void!!

We have made homemade pop tarts using salal berry jam that tastes like blackberry jam without the seeds. I think you can feel healthy eating these because they are packed with real fruit!
