A lot of classes and knowledge is required to be a judge. I went to horticulture and flower school with my garden club. It took years of classes and many many state fairs thruout the state and local state and garden shows to learn about the importance of each veggie, flower , tree and shrubs, even pond plants. Practing hort and floral judge for over 10 years for Oregon and Washington states. Judges have to pass tests thru each course in a 2 year requirement , as well as field training and judging floral entries for 2 years. Just saying..
