But how do you store them?

Do they mold? and how often do you change them?

I pile the run and coop two feet deep. I never turn the leaves. The chickens scratching turn the leaves and shreds them. In a couple of months the chickens reduce it down to about six inches, ready to spread on the garden!

@baymule I know you are experienced with rabbits, would your deep litter work with them. Like how in couple of months ready to spread.

We don't store them. We scoop them up, and make a big pile int he run for them to dig through. They love it, and we love that they turn the leaf piles into compost.

@Nyboy when I raised rabbits, they were housed in hanging wire cages in a barn.

No ! Where there are wet urine areas, yes, but that is due to the fly maggots that burrow through and consume it ... then they pupate ... then you will be cursed with even more FLYS !!!
