composting rhubarb leaves?

My mom has a huge, old rhubarb bed. When we pull rhubarb, we cut the leaves off right there at the patch and lay them around the plants. Sure beats weeding!

Is now a good time with everything frozen to transplant rhubarb? I had someone give me 4 very large plants and I need to move them.
