Watching CBS Saturday AM, saw an interview of Mary Sue Millican. She is a chef and was touting a new book called "Chef's Collaborative" which deals with sustainable cooking, how to use the whole plant, how to source sustainable ingredients, etc. Sounds like it is right up our alley!

Was just wondering, is there a TEG cookbook?
Not that I know of but I'd like to see one. I'd also like to see a cooking tips book. Like the cold vodka in your pie crust dough trick, and all sorts of other little tips that people do when they cook. TEG Guide Of Tips & Tricks For The Home Chef.

We have a chef on here, a grilling guru and enough Mothers, Grandmothers, Grans (that's what my Mother goes by to my daughter), Mee-Maws, and other culinary friendly folks, heck we even have a Neanderthal to really get something going.

Would make a great companion book to the cookbook! ;)

Hmmm.... anybody energetic enough to compile one if we all contribute recipes and hints?

http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2007/11/cooks-illustrated-foolproof-pie-dough-recipe.html

and a review of that

http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-review-vodka-pie-crust-68851

from the above website: Half of the pie dough's moisture comes from vodka, which is 40% pure alcohol. The alcohol doesn't promote gluten formation, so it helps the crust stay much flakier and more tender - a foolproof help to those of us who tend to overwork our pie dough.
My MIL tried it and it works. Its really good. She made up a bunch of pie crusts, froze them and pulls them out whenever she wants to make pie. They are STILL super flaky and taste great. She used Smirnoff and it worked great. Its worth it.
